On Oct. 4, Asterisk Realty & Placement Agency held “US Real Estate Investment Seminar”, which catered to over 55 Japanese institutional investor attendees. Guest Speakers included professionals from Greenberg Traurig, PwC, and a major US real estate fund manager.
The goal of this seminar was to share valuable information to Japanese institutional investors, who are becoming a significant group of investors in the global real estate market. Attendees included major public pensions, corporate pensions, banks, insurance companies, FoFs and REIT managers, and so forth. The seminar included sessions introducing insights into US real estate investment, the taxation of foreign investment in the US, such as new FIRPTA, and recent changes in Japanese laws, regulations, and outbound real estate investment structures (direct/fund).
We believe this particular seminar is critical as it will encourage those Japanese investors’ interest in international real estate opportunities by providing them with highly useful and accessible information that they must be understood for their investment decisions.
Based on the feedback we received, many of our attendees showed their interest and demand for both fund investment and direct real estate investment.
As request for applications exceeded our expectations, and seating was limited, we could not accept all registrations. For this reason, we are planning to hold a similar seminar in the near future on this topic.
Asterisk is a pioneer in outbound investment for Japanese investors and we see the demand for global real estate investment surges among Japanese institutional investors. And so, we strive to plan informational seminars to support both, Japanese and overseas, investors to continue encouraging global investment.
Asterisk aims to host series of private seminars about the global investment that offers valuable insights into real estate/asset market, as well as provide the different angles of taxation, legal issues and macro economy.
